Over recent weeks we have been reviewing and discussing our approach in relation to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic we are experiencing. You may have seen the most recent press conference from the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. The key piece for us was the updated advice to “avoid offices, pubs and travel”. This has been followed up with a press release from the RFU “suspending all rugby activity, at both professional and community level”.
Following the two updates we are taking official advice and cancelling and/or postponing several key events in the coming weeks. Please see below for details.
All rugby activity
All youth and senior training and games are off until further announcements on Tuesday 14 April 2020.
Social events and gatherings
All rugby related socials and gatherings are either cancelled or postponed. This includes, but is not limited to, the President’s Lunch, Club Bingo Night, End of Season Dinner. Please see our online events listings or speak to the lead organiser for specific events.
The gym will be closed for all use from 23:59 on Monday 16 March 2020.
We appreciate this will not be welcome news but the safety of our membership, staff and volunteers is of the upmost importance. Taking advice from government and our governing body is the very least we can do.
Inevitably you will have some questions following this update. As always, your Executive Committee is on hand for anything that is still unclear.
Yours in rugby,
Aylesbury RFC Executive Committee
