Back on the road with an away match against Bisbury (Banbury and Bisbury) at Banbury RFC.
Due to a number of injuries and illness, numbers were lower this week but everyone who came along put in a great shift.
Our handling wasn't the slickest it has ever been but our defensive work was superb. There were a couple of times that we were camped on our own try line but there was a determination to keep a clean sheet which was great to see.
It was great to see a debut with Charlotte L playing their first ever games of Rugby. Charlotte L did a great job playing at Centre and had some great touches of the ball.
Bisbury played some great Rugby and had times where they were controlling the game, especially at the breakdown in the first half. It was cenrtainly a tough match and two late scores saw a score that mayble flattered us a little.
Player of the Match Cara KM had a great game with maybe her best defensive display to date but the first half was all about her attacking abilities with Cara KM grabbing a couple of displays with great running on the wing. This saw us going into half-time 10-0 up.
The forwards took more control in the second half and we started taking over at the breakdown, securing ball for our backs. Beth A scored a great try with one of her trademark rampaging runs and breaking tackles. Harriet G then sped through and scored the second try with a great long run which she then converted. Eve L then scored straight from the kick off, using her pace and strength to break a couple of tackles before dotting down. Harriet G slotted over for the extras.
The match ended up 29-0 and whilst it was not our best performance, we showed a great attitude which is what we want to see.
On to next week where will play our final league match, away to Chesham.
Well done to all the players.
