The great performances keep coming and it was great to see the numbers increasing and even having some substitutes available.
It was also great to see Grace C from Leighton Buzzard make the move over from touch for her contact Rugby debut. She did a great job and showed some of her fantastic footwork. We also had another debut with Abbie L playing her first ever game, making some great tackles and some strong runs.
As Brackley were short a couple of players, we lent them some players who we rotated every 20 minutes.
As a new club Brackley showed some great teamwork and played with impressive structure. They started strongly and took charge of the breakdown at the beginning of the game.
However, whilst we made a slow start, we did grow into the game and our forwards started getting ascendancy in the set pieces and started winning the breakdowns.
It took around 15 minutes to get on the score board but once we did, we got a foothold in the game and applied pressure across the pitch. ATL went into the half-time break 22-0 up with 2 tries from Esme B, and a try a piece from Maddy W and Harriet G with Harriet G also kicking a conversion.
A couple of injuries for Brackley saw us lend a couple more players which means that all 19 of our squad were now playing.
We continued to gain momentum with tries from Eve L, Bailey O and Esme B, who completed her hat-trick. Harriet G slotted a couple of great conversions to take it to 41-0.
Brackley unfortunately picked up another couple of injuries, so the match was called early.
