The Girls U16 team finished the season attending the Bucks Invitational League finals day at Banbury with the second place ATL taking on the third place Wallingford.
ATL played with passion from the off and whilst Wallingford started string, we were able to use great hands and wonderful running lines to take a lead approximately 10 minutes in with Cara KM going over on the wing. Esme B double our lead with some strong running. Wallingford pulled it back to 10-7 and after butchering a couple of tries, we went into the half just 10-7 up.
The ATL team came out in the second half determined to make their dominance show in the score. A great break down the right wing saw a lovely offload from Daisy G to put Eve L through a gap where she dotted down under the posts which helped Harriet G nudge over the extras. Esme B grabbed her second of the game finishing off a great team play. Verity PW finished off a great try in the left wing with Baylie O grabbing a try shortly after with a wonderful running line. Maddie W grabbed a couple of tries, with one from around 60 metres out and another through a great support line, latching onto an offload. Wallingford showed great team work and got themselves back on the scoreboard with a well worked try.
The game was officialy called at 54-12 but the girls wanted to play on until the end. Maddie grabbed her hat-trick with great pace and another long run-in with Max S finsihing off the tries with a late try. Harriet G slotted a further 5 conversions in the second half, showing her skills from the tee.
We had some newer players playing on finals day who all ran hard. Special mention should go to Ellen P who made her debut and looked at home when running with the ball.
The whole coaching set-up have been so proud of all the hard work that the players have put in this season and it is great to see how well they have done.
