Aylesbury RFC

64 - 5

(HT 0-0)

Datchworth RFC

A flying start to the Aylesbury Women’s new league campaign saw them come away with a 10 try victory over Datchworth Ladies.Skipper Eve opened the scoring with some deft footwork breaking the line shortly followed by debutant Gabi. In her first ever game of rugby, Gabi put everything she had learned into practice with ferocious tackling dislodging the ball and then regathering her own kick to cross the line.

With the Datchworth defence solid, every metre was hard fought but the women in magenta and black stuck to their patient game plan, finding the edges and releasing strike runners to burst through the line and keep the score board ticking over.

Forward Lena, another debutant, found space in the wide channel, linking up with the back line and put the pedal down cutting inside the chasing defence to finish under the posts in a great individual try.

Special mention has to be made to Lowenna, Tasha and Charlotte who have moved up to senior rugby from the flourishing Aylesbury Girls section, all getting onto the scoreboard! Prop Tasha’s unsung work in the scrum and relentless support running was rewarded when team stalwart Lucy was tackled short of the line. Tasha as ever was right there in the action and saw her chance, crashing over the line with a pick and go that the defence were powerless to stop.

Forward of the Match: Aisha dominating in her first game at hooker and also kicking 7/10 conversions!

Back of the Match: Gabi for a brace of trys in her rugby debut and a performance made even more incredible considering she’d never even picked a rugby ball up 6weeks ago!
