A tough day on the road for the Aylesbury Ladies away to Letchworth GC Lionesses whose intent was clear from the outset. A relentless Letchworth attack early on was disrupted by a solid scramble from the Aylesbury backs where wing Lowenna scooped up the loose ball. Turning on the afterburners, she scythed through the scattered opposition for a great solo effort from her own half. Letchworth kept the pressure high, forcing mistakes from the A’s Ladies with tackle after tackle and were soon on the front foot again with 3 trys in the bag.
Going into the break 19-5 down, it was clear that Aylesbury needed to find another gear and they came out raring to go. Sustained pressure saw them spend a lot of time camped in the Letchworth half before Lowenna looped around to link up with fellow wing Becky who cut inside the last defenders to score another great effort from almost halfway. Despite spending most of the rest of the game in Letchworth territory, the ferocious home defence prevented any more scores with the game ending 19-10 to the home side.
Forward of the Match was prop Tasha for her non-stop effort in attack and defence including sitting down anyone brave enough to try and tackle her!
Back of the Match went to fly half Bex for her control of the game and seemingly being everywhere at once!
Letchworth also nominated No 8 Charlotte for her ball carrying and crushing tackles.
