Tabard RFC

7 - 41

(HT 0-0)

Aylesbury RFC

A confident Aylesbury side made the trip to Tabard but with a few of the regular faces unavailable. It is testament to the squad’s dedication and commitment that positions were filled seamlessly ahead of a solid team performance to bring home the win.

A powerful start and sustained pressure saw the As ladies camped out in the Tabard half but the home defence was giving nothing away before forcing the turnover. The As ladies capitalised on the disorganised counter attack stealing the ball back releasing Lena to open the scoring with Aisha adding the extras.

The As attack ramped up and with the front foot and momentum, debutant Emily and Leila both crossed for scores to see the half time lead at 0-17.

The second half saw Tabard’s attack get organised and they were rewarded with a converted try under the sticks but not before Emily had run the length to open the second half account. With Tabard tiring but by no means letting up, the ladies in Magenta and Black dug deep, with the line speed seeing turnovers being won and ball to play with.

The attacking options from training paid off with forwards and backs combining to find the outside edge releasing wings Rhys and Gabi to both score and flanker Lena for her second. Aisha added the extras for a final score of 7-41. Special mentions to Beth the wrecking ball on her debut and Aisha who once again put in so much work. A team performance with everyone playing their part made it hard to pick out the POTM but honours went to -

Forward: Leila who was everywhere, carrying hard in attack and smashing the hits in defence.

Back: Emily who made her debut for the team and at Senior rugby, got a brace of trys and we are all buzzing to see her out there again!

Also a shoutout to everyone who made the journey to support and Tash “Stats” Brown for bailing Gaz out for this match report!
