The ATL u16 girls welcomed Bisbury to Aylesbury RFC for a great day of Rugby.
It was a competitive match throughout bit with ATL having a more clinical edge.
It was a scrappy start with our forwards not securing the ball at the breakdown meaning lots of turnovers and broken play.
We settled down and started resourcing rucks which gave us front foot ball. Hattie B at scrum half helped us keep a good pace of play. With the forwards doing their job up front, we started playing the ball out along the back line, creating gaps and making breaks.
Aaron W in their first ever ATL league match took full advantage of the gaps, scoring a first half hattrick with some exceptional running.
Bella P added a fourth try in the first half with a crashing run.
Clara M added all the extras making it 24-0 at half-time.
Bisbury never let their heads drop and created chances, one of which they finished off.
Clara M ran a great line, getting her first try at U16s. Eve L added another shortly after with Charlie W converting.
Es B made lots metres with ball in hand and was rewarded with a try which Charlie W added the extras to.
Hattie B's put in a tremendous shift at scrum half and she capped off a great performance with a lovely try which was converted.
The result was called there but all the girls wanted to carry on playing and it was wonderful to see Emily F get a wonderful try as she had a great game.
I could write about each player because they all did so well but a special shout out to a couple of the new players - Ellen and Rubee who both played well beyond their experience. Both ran hard and put in some great tackles. Also, thank you to Emily and Beth for helping out Bisbury and playing a half for them.
We're so proud of all the hard work from the players. Lots to work on but it was great to watch. The last 25 minutes was full of quality rugby.
