Another impressive performance saw the U16 girls grab a great result against Chinnor.
It was a scrappy start from both teams, but it didn’t take too long for ATL to get on the board with some good handling and Clara running a great line from fullback to find a gap. She then used her pace to get over the line.
Rubee showed absolute gas and strength to break through a tackle and run through from around 35 metres to get her first try for ATL.
Chinnor played well throughout the half, putting us under periods of intense pressure and we showed some absolute brilliant defence on our try line. Making lots of dominant hits and even a couple of hold ups over the try line.
Verity P-W scored an absolute worldie of a try when she caught her own chip and chase out of our 22 and then a sprint from the halfway to score.
Gabby made it 0-20 with some great running.
Chinnor continued to play impressive rugby and were finally rewarded for their hard work with a great try before the end of the half.
Score at half-time 5-20.
The second half was very competitive, and we were unable to get as much control. Chinnor scored a converted try fairly early in the second half.
We were held up once over the line and had a knock-on at the try line, but our forwards saw us grab two more tries in the second half. A couple of periods of great pressure saw both Bella and Esme showing great strength to get the ball down over the line.
Chinnor named Verity as the player of the match. Our coaches gave Forward of the Match to Rubee for a great all-round performance on both attack and defence. Our Back of the Match was given to Zia for some great runs but even more so for some brilliant tackling on the wing.
A massive well done to everyone. It was a really good performance throughout the squad. A special shout out to Freya in her first match for us. She made some great tackles and runs.
