Aylesbury RFC

0 - 32

(HT 0-0)

St Neots RUFC

With their league opponents unable to field a team, the Aylesbury women took on the challenge laid down by higher level St Neots ladies in a friendly match.

Going into the match confident that they could hold their own, the Aylesbury team matched the physicality brought by St Neots and the game soon drew a crowd.
Despite holding strong for long periods of play and counterattacking well, the well organised St Neots team were able to break the Aylesbury line and score a couple of early trys.
At the half St Neots were holding the advantage but the game was in the balance with both teams giving no ground. Huge hits from hooker Aisha galvanised the women in magenta and black but fantastic individual efforts from St Neots players saw them draw away. Fly half Bex made some powerful carrys in the closing stages, making great ground and showing the heart of this growing Aylesbury squad.
The game finished slightly early after an injury with the visitors taking the honours 0-32.
Forward of the match was Aisha for another solid performance smashing in crowd pleasing tackles and carries.
Back of the match was scrum half Johanna for always leading from the front and displaying great leadership and somehow always managing to come up with the ball on defensive rucks.

Big thank you to St Neots making the trip to ensure we all got to play rugby. A great team and we wish them all the best for the rest of their season.
