Statman Report – With a final score of 12 – 34 the boys achieved another good win yesterday. This was our 9th win from 11 matches, although, having lost to High Wycombe twice we have only lost to one team. Pleasingly, on Sunday we won both halves with the scores 0 – 19 and 12 – 15. The boys have now scored a total of 321 points this season with only 128 against giving a score difference of 193 in our favour. At the end of last season, the score difference was much lower at 118 which, so far, indicates a significant improvement in defensive play – well done.
Toby scored 2 good tries taking his season total to 4, Logan scored another Logan classic giving him 6, Alfie got another one scrapping to the line for his 2nd and both Sam and Findlay got their first tries of 24/25 – well done lads! To date, we have scored 53 tries achieved by 18 different boys – a good stat. 23 have been scored by forwards and 30 by the backs – about what it should be (I have included Harry’s in the forwards). Statman hasn’t done this before, but he may try and start recording what in football they call ‘assists’. This thought was provoked by a great assist from Alex for a Toby try and 2 excellent assists from Ben for tries on the wing. Alex kicked 2 conversions. Logan was MOTM – well done – he and Toby are now both on 2.
We doubled our season’s yellow card count going from 2 to 4 with cards for Alfie and Hamish. With 4 cards we have equalled our yellow card count from last season – so no more please – that is a stat we don’t want to better.
We can all make mistakes, but owning them is the most important thing. So, Statman incorrectly recorded MOTM for Digby after the HW Cup Semi-Final match. This error was helpfully pointed out and has been corrected. The MOTM in that match was in fact Alex and the records now reflect that. Statman apologises to both Digby and Alex.
On Sunday we are at home against Buckingham RUFC in a Bucks ‘league’ match. We last played Buckingham in September 23 so quite a while ago. We won convincingly 36 - 0 with 6 tries and 3 conversions. Statman overheard someone saying it will be an easy win next weekend, we should forget that. Let’s not be complacent and put in a professional, accurate and disciplined performance. See you Sunday! #COYAS
