The Chairman’s Club Person of the Year award is one that gives the Chairman a great deal of pleasure to award each year, and none more so for someone who has made an extraordinary contribution to Aylesbury Rugby Club this year.
He’s one of those people who doesn’t just talk about helping, he gets immediately stuck in. And not just in one area - wherever he gets involved, things improve.
He has taken our website and absolutely transformed it.
He has taken sponsorship and pushed it forward in a way that has made a huge difference to the club - not just from a financial point of view - but in a way that every single sponsor feels valued and part of our club.
He brings ideas (many, many, many) ideas, energy, professionalism, and care, and honestly, everything he seems to touch turns to gold.
But more important than all of that, he does it for the right reasons. He does it because he cares about the club, he cares about the players, and he cares about making this club a better place for everyone.
People like this are the lifeblood of a community rugby club. Players and teams are what people see on the pitch, but behind the scenes there are special people who give their time, their skill, and their heart — and without them, the club simply wouldn’t be what it is.
So, it’s with enormous pleasure, we announce the Club Person of the Year award 2026 goes to John Charnock - a brilliant man, a brilliant clubman, and someone we are very lucky to have in our lives.
